Why we have no reason to point you at something dearer
We do not sell equipment and take no money from you. No shop pays for a place in the results, and the order of the list is decided only by the calculation.
The project is non-commercial. It earns nothing from you and nothing from the shops, and that is exactly why it can afford to tell you that something smaller will do.
Where the specifications and prices come from
We take the specifications from the manufacturer. If a product is missing a figure the calculation needs, we leave it out of the catalogue. We never guess the numbers.
The price on a card is correct as of the day the catalogue was updated and goes out of date over time. That's why the button takes you to the product page, which always shows the current price and every seller, not just one.
How we count
All the coefficients are kept in one place, so every part of the calculation uses the same figures.
- We count each appliance by how much it actually runs, not by the figure on the sticker.
- We size the peak load by the heaviest single start, not the sum of all starts.
- We add headroom for losses, partial discharge and the fact that a battery holds less as it ages.
What this calculation does not replace
It's a calculation, not a design. We can tell you how much capacity and power you need, but not how to mount the equipment, how to connect it to the consumer unit, or what your electrician will think of it.
The final make-up of the system and its installation are confirmed by a certified installer.
